In this Ted Talk, William Kamkwamba talks about his struggles in his life and how he overcame his dream to achieve his goal. Kamkwamba family was a family consisted of farmers. They were poor farmers who struggled to grow crops and provide for their families. Kamkwamba was forced to drop out of school because his parents could not pay the fees. Kamkwamba was very smart and read science books to try and build a windmill. He used recyclable parts to make a windmill to build for his family. He wanted the windmill to work to provide electricity and water for his home. He uses pathos in his talk by saying how he didn't eat much food to save food for his family and explained how many children died of hunger. He uses ethos by using science books to find a way to build a windmill even if he didn't have the right materials. He used what he could. He was not able to provide water and electricity for his village. This relates to “The Right to Fail” by William Zinsser. It talked about how it is good to fail because without failure there is no success. This Ted Talk shows how if we put our mind to something we can achieve anything. This relates to the American Dream because many people are struggling right now. With hard work and dedication, it is possible to make the impossible possible. This Ted Talk inspired me and can inspire others to go for their dream despite the challenges. This talk can inspire people who are going through tough times to push through the barriers and to inspire them again to pursue their American Dream
